MacDonald Hotel Holyrood - Edinburgh

Hi,
My wife recently bought me a four day break at the MacDonald Hotel Holyrood in Edinburgh. It was absolutely amazing overall. One thing the hotel did manage pretty well was customer service. Here's an example:
I was having a shower one evening when the water went cold. After a minute or so, it was hot again, but this kept happening. My wife rang reception to ask if they knew about the problem. They didn't, but promised to look into it. Within a couple of minutes, the duty manager arrived at our door to see if he could help. By this time, the water was hot again, so we said thank you, but there's no problem.
The hot water did go off again, so on our way out for the evening we told the lady at reception about it. We didn't complain or make a fuss as it really wasn't an issue. Anyway, the duty manager appeared again and sat us down in the lounge area for a brief chat. He profusely apologised, despite the fact that we'd told him it wasn't a problem from our perspective, and gave us a glass of champagne each. At £7 a glass, I'd say that was a nice gesture and he got no argument from either of us.
I'd recommend the Holyrood hotel to anyone. Outstanding. Just be careful of the mini-bar prices though. £1.75 for a Mars Bar!!!
