Help - daughter robbed in Lloret de Mar

Can anyone give me any info - I dont know where else to ask - my daughter was robbed of all her money in Lloret de Mar yesteday, when she was distracted, unfortunately it was all her money for the week, she had forgotten to leave it in the safe. A gypsy was begging and touched her hand while she was purchasing something and someone else bumped into her at the same time, it wasnt until later she realised what happened - thats the jist of it and I have managed to get money to her. She was able to verify who the woman was from a book of mug shots at the police station, and has been told to appear in court tomorrow. The police man who delivered the paperwork for this was less than nice and told her she better turn up or she will go to jail. As she is only 18, she is beside herself never having seen inside a court house in all her days - can anyone tell me what it will be like etc so I can put her mind at rest - she has been on the phone crying all night. I know you are all a great bunch of folk on here and I am sure someone will maybe have been on the same situation. Many thanks folks

Is she on holiday with a tour company? I would have hoped that the Travel Rep would be able to offer advice and assistance.0

If she needs support - ask the British consulate in Madrid - details on FCO link shown aboveI am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are S0466/3973. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. Atol numbers can be checked with the Civil Aviation Authority. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.0 -
I second the British Consulate - they would be able to advise re the information she's been given regarding her appearance in court. They may also be able to assist with translation if she required assistance.0

many thanks for all your replies. She has spoken to her tour operator and they have an interpreter and transport sorted now. She is concerned about what the set up will be in court - hopefully it will be a small courtroom and not too overpowering. Thankfully she is insured so the money aspect doesnt matter but she is still quite emotional. Seemingly they are trying to catch this group of Eastern European gypsies as there have been a number of robberies in the past two weeks. From what we can gather the court appearance is to save her going back at a later date as she can identify the gypsy from the photographs. Once again many thanks for your replies - this whole forum is a godsend, and the people on it are wee gems!!!Every days a School day!0
