downloading youtube clips

Does anyone know of any really good programs to download and save YouTube clips, I did have a program once but the playback quality was really bad and the image was very blocky and blurred, surely there must be a good program out there somewhere (by the way I am still using Internet Explorer 6, as I don't really like version 7, this has prevented me trying YouTube’s own downloading program), I do understand that the clips on YouTube are not great quality to start with but the program I tried gave really bad results – anyone help ??

Don't know why some people insist on using additional programs to do it when you can download them straight from YouTube, but that's folk for you I guess!

Thanks marty that thread was useful, it was more about downloading youtube to an ipod rather that just downloading to a computer, but it did give me some ideas.

The free version of real player allows you to save youtube and similar videos.
If u use mozilla, there are free addons that do the same
