Plastering

About a six weeks ago we had a room skimmed and painted it about two weeks later. I have noticed that fine cracks have appeared. Is this normal or did we paint it too early? It looked dry.
I am sure that the cracks would be covered by another coat of paint but I was wondering if this is the early warning sign for something larger. We have had a few houses plastered in the past and I have not notice this.

Some people say you should leave plaster for 4 weeks to fully dry, but with reasonable weather recently I would say 2 weeks should have been ok with reasonable ventilation.
Did you 'mist' coat the plaster first?0 -
The plaster will probably have dried too quick due to too much suction, this can be caused by not applying PVA before plastering. You also need to seal the plaster before painting as this can cause the paint to crack and flake. Getting the East Midlands Plastered0

Where have the cracks appeared? Are they where the wall meets the ceiling and other similar joins? Until the plaster is fully dry (a few months I believe) you are liable to get cracks in these places. It's just normal shrinkage and just needs a bit of filling.
I assume your first coat of paint was nicely watered down?
If the cracks are in the middle of the wall then I don't know, one of the resident plasterers could probably help.0 -
I'd get the plasterer back to have a look and make it good. We had a couple of areas in our kitchen that crazed like that where my father had plastered for me. I had put diluted PVA on the wall first but i'm guessing it may have been too dilute. I peeled back the crazed areas which had become loose and filled them in again. But as i said i'd get the plasterer back.
