As for what the figures mean - do you mean the MOT references?

i just check my tyre, it wrote as 175/65 r 15 84h, does it mean that the tyre is normal rather than run flat tyre?

any suggestions for any cheaper tyre center?

    thanks

The 175/65/15 tyres sounds like non run flats. A 2001 Cooper with these tyres would typically only have the Pepper Pack with 8 hole 15" alloys. Only the 16" Chili Pack (and 17" S Spokes) wheels came with run flats and primarily in Goodyear and Pirelli flavours. The side wall of the tyre should say whether they are run flats or Extended Mobility Tyres (EMT).

  • Hi Maggie

If money is not an issue, then, I would strongly recommend buying four new tyres and replacing the brake pads. All together should be less than £300.

    Good luck

EDIT: I just checked this website www.mytyres.co.uk and they do your tyres from £40 delivered. And they do Toyo for £44 delivered.

By the way, www.blackcircles.com do Toyo for your car all four fitted and balanced including new valves for £202 or £160 delievered

Pirelli Eufori tyres are the most common run flats fitted at the factory and this 175/65R15 84H size are not available as run flats, you must have regular tyres (huray! :D)

In this case I would get the tracking and alignment checked when the tyres are replace in case it is out and causing the uneven wear. I pay about £20 for this check at the tyre fitters I use. It is top notch equipment, I get it at this price as this fitter is big so large volume of customers means they can do it at this very good price.

The numbers refer to the section in the manual covered by the item.

4.1 is the section (tyres) D is the subsection and relates to the tread and 1 is failure reason.

    So 4.1D1 means

The grooves of the tread pattern are not at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread, and round the entire outer circumference of the tyre.
