How much would you expect to pay for a drain to be unblocked?

I've only had a chance to phone DynoRod so far and they offer a fixed price of £84 + vat to unblock a drain. Does this sound about right? anyone know of any companies that tend to be cheaper?
Sounds a lot to me but it was the only one we saw which advertised a fixed fee. We were keen to go for a fixed fee as we are a bit concerned that it might be a difficult job as we're not 100% sure where the drain goes. It's possible that it runs all the way under the house to a manhole on the other side which has a drain run that looks completely full of moss and growth and doesn't appear to have had anything through it for some time.

Sounds OK as long as its a fixed rate you hear many dodgy goings on with drain unblocking.
My advice would be ring your local water company, ours do drain unblocking and you have no chance of getting ripped off as they dont work on comission like many firms do0 -
i know our local water company do drain unblocking, however we pay £20 a year and they come out and unblock your drains/fix water leaks etc for free.
It may be worth giving your water company a call we are with Wessex water.
£84 doesnt seeem to bad, but anything cheaper would be an advantage.0 -
Thanks, we've had someone out now. They spent ages trying to unblock it and it didn't look like they were going to be able to fix it, he decided to give one more try from the other end of the drain and out came a bottle of beer (beer still intact)!!!
We only moved in recently but next door said that the drain had been overflowing into their garden for years.0
