knocking down internal wall

hey

my box room has been extended and there is a beam in the wall where the old
structural wall was which is fine, the room has been made bigger and they have put a
beam where the new wall is located also. im confused as i thought the beam which would
be replacing where the origional load bearing was would be enough to hold up the lot? the wall they have put up as well is brickes with plasterboard on either side

i want to knock down the wall entirely to make a open plan kitchen/living room but
im worried that the 2nd beam is there for a particular reason meaning its not so simple

has anyone ever seen this before? apoligies if its a dumb question but im not so sure on this stuff???

thanks
