Hi Beinerts, thanks for the comments, im def going to look into the dart tag.

As for the bank charges..well my partner had a direct debit come out of her account and as it went over the overdraft limit, they charged £30 for this, then charged another £90!! it happened on my account too, but with doing the bootsales, we managed to get mine under so i wouldnt be charged anymore. we get paid next friday so essentially we need to make sure we stay within our overdraft limits, as i mentioned before, i should get some overtime which will help us out.

Train ticket: my company does provide a season ticket loan, ive already looked into this, it doesnt work out much cheaper and is quite a bit more a month, plus with 5 weeks holidays a year and on some occasions i work overtime until 10pm or after and i get a car all the way home so only need to buy singles.

thanks very much for your comments... im just hoping i get some bank charges back... these will make a big difference as i will just put them all on the credit card with the highest interest!!

i currently have an overdraft of £900.... is it best to try and get my overdraft down or pay off the cards first?

also... lets pray my partners freelance job comes off!! that will be £225 towards the debts!!

RE: Your overdraft, make sure you both stay within your limits before you start paying more than the minimum on anything else. Once you are both within your limits, pay off the debt with the highest APR first, whether that's the overdraft or credit cards. Make sure you keep paying the minimum on the other cards.

P.S. Your overdraft APR will usually be higher thatn your credit card APR, so would be worth paying off first. Double check this though. Also, post up your APR rates on your SOA. As a rule of thumb, always pay off the debt with the highest APR first, except maybe where there is a charge to pay more than a fixed amount e.g. on some loans.

Thankyou so much for this, i will work all these out tonight when i get home from work, now im really scared, just received an electric bill for £165 and a sky bill for £70... very very stupidly booked the ricky hatton fight and a cpl movies, this is just ridiculous.

now any spare money we have for next month is gone to pay for these bills, weve cancelled a night out we had next month, so we have no other commitments, except from sister in laws bday but we dont need to spend too much on a pressie thank god... I think the best thing to do is just wait until next friday and see what we get paid exactly and then go from there, rough working out does not look good tho!

how can we be so stupid

im so angry with myself, thank god we realised now that we were digging ourselves deeper and deeper

Don't beat yourself up too much about it. You've taken the first step and things will seem better once you have a plan and are tackling the debt properly.

just found out OH spent £1.30 today but was on bday card and cat food so not too bad, made a lovely spag bol for dinner, just by cutting down our portion sizes, we have enough for lunches tomorrow... this is great!

also... managed to get some free milk and black sacks from work!

im pleased so far... I cant believe i was spending so much money. It just shows how much I wasted.

oh well onwards and upwards... borrowed some dvds from a friend as we will now be sitting indoors friday and saturday nights!

KK - look on the freebies board as you might get something on there which will make a useful present. Look on Ebay and in charity shops (if you remove the tags then she'll be none the wiser).

Have you thought about changing your bank account? I think that First Direct still have their offer on where they pay you £100 to join them (and £100 if you leave). Their overdraft is pretty good too.

if you havent already joined pigsback make sure you sign up... if the birthday is at the end of the month you may have enough points to order a £10 voucher by then... lots of sign ups when you first join.

Also ebay is great for presents and they dont have to be second hand to get bargain prices. Mayeb you could sell a few things to raise the money for a present?

Lovely to hear you so positive today.
