Garage conversion

I know this will be a very vague question, but has anyone converted their garage into a room and how much would it cost roughly? I know this will depend on exactly what needs doing but as a rough figure what would you expect to pay? The garge is attached to the house and has obviously the front garage door and then a rear door that leads into our kitchen.

We recently got a price from hubbys bro in law, mind you he will probably do it at a good price for us. He said around 4k, but we do need to dig out the front part of the concrete prior to him putting up the front wall. This is for plasterboard walls and does not include laminate floor which we will add later. Does not include electrics as my dad (our handy electrician) will do the sockets and sort out the lights for us although the power is there it just needs repositioning once the walls are sorted.
I would say you are looking at around 5k-6k all in depending on what you want and how much you can get done yourself.
BTW we don't have an internal doorway to the garage, so knocking through plus a doorway and door is included in ours.

We did ours a couple of years ago, using a company and the whole thing cost about £8k.
This included architect's fees and local authority building warrants, all flooring, decoration, insulation, lighting, heating etc0 -
check there are no restrictive conditions on any planning permissions on your property that prevent you converting the garage too!0

We converted a garage at the bottom of someones garden a couple of years ago. It a double garage and we installed a shower room and connected it to the mains supply and drainage in the house, lined and insulated the roof, new door and window, insulated ceiling, electrics, laminate flooring, and decorating. About £9k. If your garage is attached, you wont need drainage etc. Allow about £6 - 7 and you are probably about right.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
