I just recieved a text message to my landline phone, I didnt know this was possible but anyway I listened to it twice because it went so fast then phoned 1471 and looked it up on the net and its from telewest but the phone number it was sent from was different. All I want to know is do I get charged for listening to voice texts this way on a landline phone even though they rang me?
Thanx

If you answer it when it rings you then no. If you ring it back then yes.

The facility of being able to text from a mobile to a landline has been around for a bit now. BT introduced a while ago and then telewest eventually upgraded their system to do the same.

If you call 0800 5875252 you can disable this feature. This presumably means your landline will be unable to receive text messages at all.

You may also like to consider getting a Magic Messenger or an SMS enabled phone if you want to make use of texting on your landline.

Yes, sorry, forgot to mention that the above 0800 is for texts on a BT line.
