....... of my tv, with built in freeview affected by its position in the room. Stuck in the corner where it lives the reception is hopeless. Moving the tv into the centre of the room the reception vastly improves. How can this be when the signal is from a fixed aerial on the roof?. Got me flumoxed.

MMMmmm. sounds like a dodgy lead or connection, have you tried changing the aerial cable, could be when it moves it is stretching a possible break or kink in the cable, or on the connector itself which is why the picture improves when the tv is moved
I have nothing better to do!!!!

I agree. It sounds like a dodgy aerial lead. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

It's a possibility. Will check the cable thoroughly when I get home.0

interference with other electrical devices maybe?0

No I don't think so. However there is a hi fi speaker next to it. Could it be some kind of magnetic interference from that?0
-
Yeah. Anything with a transformer could play havoc, potentially.
Also: mobile phones, microwave ovens, engines... many things can interfere.Russia is HERE0 -
If it's a crt then the speaker (unless magnetically shielded) will def cause issues.0
-
Can you describe the interference?
Generally with digital broadcasting, if it's the signal from outside that's being interfered with or the decoder box /freeview itself, you'll get big coloured blocks on screen, clicks and noise, and the signal will drop completely for about a second.
If it's just snow / noise without an all-out signal drop, it'll be the TV or the connections between the decoder/freeview and TV that's getting interfered with.Russia is HERE0 -
It is your first suggestion, coloured blocks, clicks and noise.
However if your're right and it is the external signal being interfered with, how come the reception improves when I move the tv around?0 -

Possibly because a dodgy cable connection is degrading the signal when you move the tv.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
