Mutual withdraw - Will this affect my ratings?

Hi
I purchased something from a seller on ebay and the goods never arrived.
When I queried it with them, they refunded my money straight away. :j
However, now they are saying that the packages they sent out to buyers, (me included) have not been delivered because someone stole them at the Royal Mail.[FONT=arial,sans-serif] The seller wants to claim their ebay fees and therefore has opened an 'unpaid item' dispute with me and wants me to go ahead with this by selecting the "we have agreed not to complete this transaction''. If this goes ahead, it will mean that the item will no longer show as unpaid in my items won.
I am not sure if I should do as they ask or just go ahead with it. Will either option affect my ebay ratings? I do want to help the seller but not to my detriment.
Hope that you good people can help me. Thanks!

Your public ebay record won't be affected, and AFAIK it won't affect you otherwise. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thank you frivolous_fay. Excuse my ignorance but what is a AFAIK?0

As far as I know

So, if I ignore it, might that affect my ratings?0

If you ignore it, the seller will lose their fees and be displeased with you.My TV is broken!

Yes, I really want to do the right thing by the seller. I just have a bad feeling about it.0

Put it this way - the seller advertised the item for sale. You agreed to buy at an agreed price. You paid. If the item had not been lost, the seller would have got what you paid and would have had to pay ebay fees.
In the event, the item was lost. You received a full refund. The seller is now effectively making RM pay the original selling price for the goods. Why should the seller also be rewarded with getting their ebay fees refunded too?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

In what way are they being 'rewarded'? No one but Ebay will refund the fees, they won't be able to claim from Royal Mail for them.
It seems to me a little mean spirited not to agree to the mutual in this case (taking at face value what the seller says is true), if you do not the only one losing out is the seller. They will still lose on the initial listing fee which can not be reclaimed. Just as a matter of interest, is it a substantial amount?.0 -
Thank you all for your advice. I really appreciate it.
The item didn't come to much £2.98 and that includes postage. I think that the seller would have definetely wanted more for it.
I am very happy to take the seller at face value and feel sorry for them, if they have had all these items stolen by the Royal Mail. I just want to make sure, as they have opened a dispute, that this will not end up being of any detriment to my ratings.. Sounds silly maybe but on ebay, ratings are important.
Anyway, I will sleep on it and probably go ahead with it tomorrow.
Many thanks again for all your help!0 -
The seller advertised the goods for sale and is still effectively selling the goods at the price raised, only to the RM rather than the winning bidder. In what way are they being 'rewarded'? No one but Ebay will refund the fees, they won't be able to claim from Royal Mail for them.

If ebay fees are not refunded, no one is losing out.
