Hey, i am trying to tidy and sort my room / clothes out as i havent for a while and i have nice amount of clothes that i wear, and i am a guy lol. Right what is the best way to store T-shirts and Polo Shirts? Better to hang them up? or fold them in draws? They always seem to get so creased either way? Also the same for formal button up shirts?
Has anyone found any clever ways of clothes storage that they could pass on? Space efficient ideas?
And please dont say get rid of them lol as i have had a big tidy and given alot to my brothers.

Hanging usually produces less creases, though t shirts etc should be fine in a drawer as long as you don't stuff too many in.
I recently bought my two teenage daughters a clothes rail each, and they hang all their t shirts and tops up & put trousers, shorts + undies in drawers. You need a lot of coat hangers, but you can get them quite cheaply from £1 shops or supermarkets.
Its working very well, their rooms are much tidier and they wear more of their clothes now they can flick through them all when deciding what to put on, rather than just picking up the least creased thing from the heap on the floor!0 -
Hhmmm yeah i think the problem i have is the quanity of items. With button up formal shirts would they be better folded in a draw as well or would they crease too much?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

My rule usually is to hang formal shirts, but to fold t-shirts. I generally find that the t-shirts don't get too creased if you fold them carefully and don't pile them up too high. If you've got a load of clothes that you don't really wear, or are winter clothes that you're not likely to need to for couple of months, what I've done is buy a couple of those underbed storage boxes and put the clothes in there. They're kept clean, they're fairly accessible and I have a shuffle round when the weather gets warmer or cooler.0

Hello n57602000
They're a tidy lot in the 'Old Style' board;) so I'll move your thread across for some expert tips.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email .

Wow Olliebeak, I'm so impressed with that! I must run down now and try it out on OH's T-shirts. Am determined to master that trick.....!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I used to have a board thingy that you put t-shirts on,the edges folded in and the tshirt got folded iykwim! Think I bought it in my 'QVC- daft enough to buy anything' days! It did actually work though.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

formal shirts are hung.. tshirt/poloshirts are folded...
I fold the tee's lengthways to the back.. line up the underarms and shoulders.
Fold the sleeves over away from myself at a '\' angle.. usually along the seam!
I then fold them into thirds and bung in the cupboard..
If hubby scruffs them up scrabbling in the cupboard.. tough.. he can either wear them like that.. whizz them in the dryer for 5 minutes.. iron them.. or wear something else! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
My rule is 'hang it up if you wear it as a top layer' so T shirts get folded in the winter and hung up in the summer - but I'm rubbish at folding and hanging is easy-peasy.0

If you hang your clothes on hangers to dry - they can go straight into the wardrobe once dry -ready to wear
I hang shirts & 'nice' tshirts, but tshirts that are for work (hubby has messy job) get folded once dryI THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0
