[RANT] Barclaycard ups rate to 19.9%

I only still have my gold barclaycard as i never use it and its got a good limit for emergencies but I've had a letter to say the rate is going up to 19.9% !!! (was 18.9% to be fair!)

Time to move even though its only an emergency card (the principle of it!!)

Sorry for the overuse of exclamation amrks but thats just plain shocking!

It would seem that Barclaycard are really pricing themselves out the market these days... I am only keeping mine for emergencies and the occasional LOB transfer

Ask to speak to the Retention Dept and tell them you want to cancel and they may reduce it for you but i suppose it depends on alot of factors.

My 0% period is just up with Virgin and when I tried to cancel / close it they very forceful in wanting me to stay. They even offered me a rate of 7.9% APR for everything but variable, but as this was just a 0% card wasn't really interested but kept it open anyway.
