    thank you very much,

i may even try fritters, my mum used to do them when i was little, admittedly i bought o pack of the ready made ones when they first came and they were disgusting, kind of put me off fritters ever since!!

It reminds me of camping holidays with a tent and no fridge! Pork luncheon meat used to be a great standby in those days and was mostly used chopped up in pasta dishes, bean stews, omelettes and main-meal salads. I suppose the great outdoors makes almost anything taste great, but as far as I remember it was absolutely fine.

I'd fry or grill it and serve it with nice crusty bread - in Germany they have "leberkas" which is kind of like a pork meatloaf a bit like luncheon meat/spam and it's usually served with a fried egg and mild mustard - yum!

Liz - you've taken me back to when I lived in Austria - I used to call in at the butcher's on the way from work and have hot Leberkase in a bread roll. I'm drooling at the thought of it.... I did it nearly every day, before calling in at the Konditorei for cakes and chocolate, which would explain why I came home considerably chunkier  Julia xx

Spam fritters were one of my favourite school dinners.

I'd suggest spam fritters, served with home made chips and baked beans.

Packet foods never taste like home-made food. It's convenience, not best taste or "just like your mum would make" (not that my mum ever made spam fritters, I've only ever had them at school dinners).

School dinners used to deep fry them.

I'd cut it into matchstick sized pieces mix with gherkins cut the same way and stir in some mayonnaise... what the Germans call Fleischsalat - then eat it with traditional salady items or as accompaniment to a barbecue..

This was a barley version of risotto. Very nice too;)

Looks nice but I prefer spam well-fried beforehand, makes for a stronger flavour. herbs and garlic would be great too.

and pepper, it's quite hard to overdo the pepper...

makes me think of ebay - OH often says in a pitiful little voice, 'PLEEESE don't put me on Ebay flower!' If he's not careful I'll put him in a risotto...

Oooooh spam fritters! Grilled spam is quite nice too....and slightly less bad for you than the fritters. I won't say healthier LOL
