My personal information was one of 25 million lost by the government. I have been informed that I can claim compensation via the following website www.thismoney.co.uk/disc-claim
When I have been on the website it appears that I have to pay a fee of around £5.99 in order to claim.
Why do I have to pay in order to claim for something that isn't my fault?

I think it'll be a scam, sorry!y information was lost too but i have never receieved anything about compensation.0

What are they compensating you for? you havent lost any money, deffo i scam i think.
Just read it and apparently you can put in a claim, the company just provides a pack to help you do it, if you really wanted to claim compensation from the already overstreatched government, i'm sure you could do it without paying someone else for the info, i'm sure you could find it free online.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

Best advise would be to ring Child benefit yourself. If this is indeed a scam more people need to be made aware of it.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Compensation is supposed to compensate you for a financial loss - what exactly have you lost to back up your claim??0

Sorry if I have misled you all. I've just realised that the I got the information in the financial section of the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

Being new to this sort of thing I'm not too sure what you are implying.
I found the newspaper cutting again after posting my question yesterday.
I may be gullible but since it was published in the Mail on Sunday I took it to be credible.0 -
