    I think the offer so far is pitiful, for what it is worth.

    Just to add my experience - I dont want to go into details about what happened but as for whether to accept first offers - I rejected my first offer of £5K and 6 months later was awarded £25K - so 5 times the original amount. :)

    Don't accept first offer .... and get proper advice. The cost of a solicitor should be recoverable from the insurance company as part of the settlement - it will be well worth it.
