I am hoping that someone could guide me in the right direction please.
I have bought a TP-Link wireless router and I am struggling to set up security. The computer shop wont help me and support is in China and the phone number does not work properly. I am hoping that someone out there either has this router or knows what to do. I am at the end of my tether.
I would be very gratefull for some help.
Thanks
Happy x

Connect the router to the PC using the Ethernet cable
Enter 192.168.1.1 into your browser
Enter admin for the User Name and Password, both in lower case letters.
Navigate to the wireless menu, then wireless settings
Change the SSID from the default to a unique name of your choice
Select Security Type WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK from the dropdown box
Save a random 63 character key from here to a notepad file and copy and paste it into the PSK Passphrase box
Click the Save button to save your settings on the page.
Copy and paste the same 63 character key when prompted while connecting any PC to the router

I cannot thank you enough for that, if the computer shop had told me that in the first place I would have been up and running yesterday and it would have spared a migrane!
Thakyou so, so much x
Just another question - sorry - When I check for the connection strength there is another nework that I must have set up as a preferred connection (not the one that I am connected to now) and it looks like its still active and unsecure. Do I need to cancel that or will it make no difference to me now ive got the sceure connection?
thanks. You cant have everything; where would you put it?

Are you sure that it is one that you created? e.g. what is the SSID?
You should be able to remove that from the list of available networks but if you have now secured your router, it's just like seeing a neighbours network in your list and nothing to worry about. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
