Just came across this account today - sounds promising.

The AA Internet Savings Account offering 4.81% AER* gross (variable). Figures include a first-year bonus of 0.5% gross (issue 2). Interest calculated on anniversary.

However, if I've missed something I'm sure I'll be corrected!

You haven't missed anything. It's as simple as you state. After a year when the bonus goes, then it becomes uncompetitive, so just put a note in your diary.

They're actually about to close issue 3 and open issue 4 which pays 4.86% at the end of the week. Same bonus 0.5% for first 12 months.

Phone a/c goes to 4.86%, internet to 4.87%. Not worth moving from an existing 4.85% account, but not bad if you don't have £15k for the new Cahoot 5.25%.
