help - dell laptop won`t turn on

I had an error message on my laptop monday night saying my work was not properly saved to the hard drive. thought no more about it and shut down.

when I tried to turn it on this morning nothing happens. the most I can get after reinserting the battery is for the light for the hard drive to blink and thats it.

any help appreciated as to what to do next?

burn it to a cd and see if you can get the laptop to boot from the CD

sounds pretty terminal

try booting it up without the battery first , just the mains

the green power light on the AC adaptor still comes on, unfortunately the laptop still does nothing without the battery out on just the mains.

sounds fatal, probably motherboard, if it were the hard disk you would at least see the first screen come up with the bios access

Try this..
Take out the power cord and battery
Press the power button for 10 -15 seconds
Insert the power cable only
Press the Power button again

If it starts all is good slap in the battery and on you go.
If it does not start then it sounds terminal..
