How awful and how incompetent of the duties/ops team. I would be inclined to go and see the HR with your two friends and calmly but clearly state the case for having the time off. I would take relevant copies of emails that have passed between managers and staff and explain how the lack of leave is going to have impact your big day and that you tried to give advance notice but there has been a mix up. Perhaps you could negotiate with other colleagues not going to the wedding that could swap shifts to accomodate the wedding/celebrations.
Sorry I cant think of anything else practical to do.
Good luck for the big day0 -
You need to find out who your point of contact is in HR & speak with them directly, hopefully if calmly & consiely explained they may be able to assist you.
Good luck;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

When my now husband worked part time and contractless (they wuld not give him a contract and that is illegal on thier part) for a very well known bookmakers, they would not let him have any time off for our wedding at all. Eventually they said he could have a few hours off for the ceremony, but he had to do a shift later that day and as for a honeymoon forget it. Suffice to say that that was when we first started out selling on Yahoo auctions and later Ebay.
If you do not work for yourself, unfortunately companies can pretty much do as they please.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -

Whilst they can, most are run by human beings & will try to accomodate you in this kind of situation. It's mostly just a case of talking to the right person who both understands the problem & has the authority to deal with it, no point talking to soemone who hasn't got the authority to sign off on leave etc.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
