Abbey 6% Current Account

Hello
I saw a big banner in a brach of Abbey that was advertising their new interest rate and went in for a chat.
It looks like you get 6% on the first £1000 in your account, provided you pay in £1000/month. However the strange bit is that you only get the accumulated interest after being with them for 12 months, until then it's 2.5%.... I think.
Is this right? Does anyone have this accout yet? Am I reading and hearing it right?
You also get 6% on monthly savings if you want it?
