Sticky threads on the house buying etc board

I did post up last week on the board and ask one of our boardguides, but no reply.
The sticky threads on the House Buying etc board are generally ignored by the regulars so there are lots and lots of unanswered questions in them by absolute newbies.
They also end up full of spam which I do report when I go into the stickys but they've often been there for weeks, being read by the poor newbies who also get ignored by us and end up disappearing forever.
If they were closed then the newbies would be forced to find the way to post a new thread and therefore have their important questions answered and the amount of spam they are subjected to reduced.
I think the tenants guide to renting one is still new and a bit of conversation is still going on, but the mortgages, house buying and selling threads could be closed, I think.

Same problem on the Travel board - with the exception of the New York thread (which is well looked after thanks to mm), stickies are ignored, or just spam magnets. There is even one called 'Read Me First', and if people do read it, they certainly don't follow any of the information in it!Gone ... or have I?0
