Baby seats for small cars

Hi,
My first child is due in three months, and we have been given a nearly new Mothercare travel system. I know the warnings about secondhand car seats but we know its history.
However I have just tried out the car seat in my Fiat Cinquecento and it doesn't fit - the seatbelt is too short by about 6 inches. So we are going to have to sell the travel system on and find another seat.
Does anyone have a small car and can recommend a group 0/0+ car seat which might be worth a try? I am in no position to replace my car right now so hoping someone can help! Thank you

Have you visited your local nursery needs/baby seat stockist.
They will usually fit them into the car for you.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
The seatbelts can usually be replaced with longer ones. Do you know who makes the seat (it will only be mothercare badged) as some can be used with bases which only require short belts and make life much easier.0

My sister in law had a Fiat Cinquecento which she loved. About 3 months into motherhood she threw the towel in and sold it for a bigger car. This car is always going to be a struggle for carrying all the baby gear around plus pushchair and when the child is big enough for a front facing seat there will not be anywhere for their legs to go.lady_stardust wrote: »Hi,

Six inches is a big shortfall on length on the seat belt, I doubt you will find any baby seat that will fit. Maxi Cosi used to do a base that strapped in with the seat belt which means you donlt need as much seat belt. The infant carrier then attaches to the base. I cannot see it in their range now, it's all ISOFIX bases now.0
