1st credit

I have received a letter from 1st credit saying that I have a debt of £100 that has been assigned to them from the Royal Bank of Scotland. I did not reply to the letter (I have no idea where they got the address from) as the letter has no printed name just a stamped signature. The whole letter just looks like a photocopied fake, but reading the posts I assume they are a real company. A week after the first letter I had another letter supposedly from the RBoS informing me that they had assigned the debt to 1st credit in 2004. The letter is of the same type as the one from 1st credit and I do not think it is from the RBoS. Again there is no printed name. A week after that I received another letter saying that 1st credit will take me to court and that I will have to pay court fees etc. I think that the debt will become statute barred in September. I am not sure what my best course of action is. Should I contact them with a CCA request, or should I continute to ignore them. I really don't want to go to court for this amount of money. Is it likely that they will go this far? Also, I thought I might telephone the RBoS and ask if they can verify sending me a letter. Is this a wise idea? My intention would be to report them to the OFT if RBoS have no knowledge of this letter.

well firstly do you owe RBS anything??

I'd send them the standard CCA letter it clearly does NOT admit any liability so would be my first port of call

Yes, I think I do. What about contacting the bank to see if they sent the letter of assignment. Is that a good/bad idea.
