i got in to soe MAJOR debt when i was 18 and ignored it like an idiot!
It has now been passed from NatWest to Wescott credit services and is now a total of £9397. Im a very low earner and dont really know where to start... I pay them £50 a month and they say they wont reduce the debt amount anymore. They made me make a payment of £500 at first to stop a bailiff coming round, is this right of them to do? I cant even pay my rent this month cos of that.
My credit rating is obviously in tatters as the account defaulted, so I cant even get a loan to pay them back and get back on my feet. I need to do something to get it better so that one day I an buy a house. What can I do for that as I cant even get a CapitalOne card?!
Do I write to NatWest and ask for a statement of charges or do I write to Wescott so then I can see all the charges so maybe take them to court to lower the court?! I just dont know where to start!
Im in so much trouble and dont know how to get out of it.
PLEASE HELP!!

Firstly - take a deep breath and calm down

Secondly - they cannot have what you don't have! No matter WHAT they threaten.
My first advice is to contact one of the debt agencies in my signature - a lot of companies take you more serious when you deal with them through the charities because they KNOW they will get found out if they break the law.
Thirdly - do NOT borrow to pay off debt - if they suggest you do so they are BREAKING THE LAW!

Call CCCS. I'm a big fan of their work

They will totally help you deal with this so easily that you'll wish you called them earlier.

If you have a look at the bottom of Mrstines siggy she has 3 links One to national debt line, another to cccs and the third is for the CAB.
We are also all here to offer support if and when you need it.

littledoc,
Welcome to the forum, you will get some excellent advice on here. Please take mrstine's advice & click on one of the links in her signature. The people at these charities are there to help, they are non-judgemental and they've heard it all before, also don't beat yourself up over your debt, you've taken the hardest step and faced up to it. Now with the help of one of the charites & the very good people on here, you'll come out the other end debt free. Good LuckSparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Sorry I got distracted last night (blooming dog!)
The links as the others have mentioned are in my signature at the bottom of each of my posts. CAB are great but not all local offices have the facilities you might need. Payplan and CCCS are charities solely dealing with problems relating to debt.
If you can post us a SOA (there is a great tool here for putting it together: http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html) that will help us see what you can cut back on and how much you can afford to pay the creditors.
I would recommend you speak to someone like CCCS but if you prefer doing it on your own with our support it IS possible, but having CCCS dealing with it means that the creditors should deal with CCCS and not hassle you directly. There are lots of avenues to take really to get them to back off a little like requesting a copy of you signed credit agreement but honestly I think the point you are at means you really should get some help from one of the charities
