Norton Anti .... or free?

@Toronto - ok.
1. if you don't renew you won't have to uninstall but you should as it will no longer be able to update itself and therefore will not be protecting you from viruses etc.
2. it should be very easy to uninstall (and be sure to do that before installing any new Anti Virus software - different versions of AV software can clash) see here for the basic uninstall: http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/kis/docs/howto/software/antivirus/uninstall.htm
3. installing the new AV program will be easy - just search through this thread and pick one of the free ones mentioned and download it (download before you uninstall Norton so you don't have to go back on the web to get it without an AV program running) - once you have the free AV software downloaded, uninstall Norton (you will probably have to restart your machine after doing that) and run the downloaded software and follow the prompts as it installs.
@ Don9999 - you mean a magazine review like this Don?: http://www.pcw.co.uk/computeractive/features/2142735/anti-virus-investigation-weed

Just tried uninstalling Norton Internet Security via Add Remove Programmes in control panel and got this sign:
"A norton internet security account with supervisor access must be logged in to uninstall this product. If norton internet security is not running,click the start menu, select norton internet security and log in. Set up will now exit."
I am logged in and it still won't let me install. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks0
