Hi Savers,
My Dad and I went into a dealer the other day. We wanted to part exchange my mom's 2006 toyota yaris 1.3 and get an older ford galaxy.
The salesman printed something called an 'HPI' on our yaris and told us it was category D and he couldn't accept it.
We bought it from a friend of my dads who openly and honestly informed us that the bumper had been repaired and a bit of work to the right wing. That's all. My mom has been driving it for a year without any problems.
Last year, we insured it with MORE THAN and they never mentioned any of this category D business to us. (perhaps they don't check hpi's when providing quotes..)
My question is, God forbid, if an accident were to happen, would the insurer pay out?
What should we do? Inform them straight away that it is a category D? Have a vehicle inspection by the RAC??
Thank you sooo much.
God Bless
Sonny

As long as the car is roadworthy then there are no problems with your insurance as far as this situation is concerned, however if the car is written off in the future then the insurer will reduce the settlement amount due to the impact of the previous total loss on the car's value.0
