I have recently purchased my house from my local council, so now i need insurance for the house, but i am confused about my rebuild value.
The council valued my house at £65000 ,but after a discount i got it for a bit less any opinions or ideas where i can find out will be helpful.
thank you

Rebuild value is not connected to house value
http://calculator.bcis.co.uk/ ( which needs measurements ) which also links to leaflet - which might give more of a guide to examples
http://abi.bcis.co.uk/leaflet/Leaflet2005.pdf
- although obviously there's room for error as each property is different , did you have a mortgage valuation its sometimes listed there ?
other ways - pay for a surevyor to calculate
OR
go for one of the many insurance policies that do not require this information ( unlimited or .. upto £200/ £300K/£500K provided)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
as mentioned above....
my insurance policy has a blanket cover..... ie it will pay out what needs tobe paid to have the house rebuilt up to a maximum......smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
