Recycle Bin problem

Hi
I've noticed recently that sometimes when I delete files which I no longer need (e.g. pictures or documents) and then change my mind, I open the Recycle Bin to restore them to where they came from only to find that it is empty.
When I initially delete such files the Recycle Bin icon on my desktop changes to show that the file is now in there waiting to be deleted. But I open the bin to find that they are not there. Yet the icon shows that they are there, and it still allows me to delete them from the bin as usual.
This is proving to be something of a problem as if I delete something by mistake there is no way to retrieve it.
Could anyone help please?
(My operating system is Windows XP home edition)

I don't know what settings you have on you recycle bin, but give this free recovery utility a wiz http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/
If that utility is no good there are plenty more out there. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0 -
Have a look through this article from MS. Details why it may be happening and gives a fix.
