MBNA, missed a payment, what next ?

Have £3,000 on a MBNA Virgin Credit Card and missed a payment of £65 and can't afford to pay this due to circumstances I've ended up in. They are sending me letters with a number I can call if I am having problems making a payment and if I don't get in touch, my credit score could be affected. My question is how can they help me with this ? I keep putting off ringing the number but it is now catching up on me [sleepless nights, no appetite, thoughts of suicide etc.]
Has anybody been in this predicament and can let me know if there is a solution ?

Yeah ring them, tell them how difficult this phone call is and talk to them, you will feel better honest.
delaying it in long run makes the problem 10X worse.those debt people are 100 times worse to deal with.0 -
I know how you feel as I used to feel the same way. Never knew you could change the amount you pay or anything so just used to ignore it. Until I finally rung them and explained everything, very helpful and lowered the amounts payable to get me back up to date.
They aren't as bad as you'd think.0 -

Hello Agaton Sax! I never thought I'd meet anyone who remembers Agaton Sax from the storybooks, and now here you are  . Think scramble some time I it's talk for?! :rotfl:
If your having problems making repayments, call the number you were given, it's probably "Customer Assistance" and they can help you make alternative arrangements to repay the balance on your c/card. You might not even have to make the minimum payment required each month, it could be less, plus they might even be able to "freeze" the interest on your account so you're just paying off the balance without any interest charged.
If you don't try, you won't know. Also, if you've missed one payment and you simply let it slide, the clock starts to tick and when it reaches "over 30 days late", your credit report will have a black mark on it. Let that slide to "over 60 days late" and your account could be passed to the Debt Collections side. "90+ days late" will lead to your account being sold off to an outside Debt Collection agency. And THEN the trouble really starts...0 -
Agaton Sax ? You must be in the same age category as me LOL. I so much wanted it to be the name of our new formed Band all those years ago; 4 of us in a Library kindly donated to us for rehearsing and one night we spent 2 hours arguing over a name instead of playing ! In the end, we played under a different name. Memories.0
