Have I Applied? Confused! Student Finance!

Hello!
Im hopefully (well find out on wednesday) about to go into my second yr of uni.
Ive applied for student finance, filled in my form online and it said everything was fine. Then i got a letter saying your mum needs to submit her income etc.
I went through this last year, and got exactly the same. But this year when i entered my mums information it said ok thats fine etc. And said i didnt need to submit anything. But last year i had to submit and show my mums P60 thing. But this year i dont have to.

Is this normal? Im sure ive done everything the same as last year? Is it just because im in 2nd year now? Everything seems ok, but i duno if ive applied properly. Surely they'd want to see this years P60 thing?

Help?! :o

    Hi

If you aren't sure give them a call. With us both being self employed we've phoned a few times and they've always been very helpful

You're better asking questions now than not having enough money when you go back

    same trouble here..

Im applying for 2nd year finance. Mines income assessed. When i applied online went through it, and it said i wasnt required to submit any futher information. Anyway few weeks later, "Further information is required for the income assessed part".
So took this years P60's down to my local council office. No problem (so far - ha ha.)!

I was never asked for P60s from my parents, but I was only eligible for the non-means tested part of the student loan cos the NHS paid my tuition fees. I'm fairly sure my brother, who was means tested, had to submit P60s from our parents each year.

Phone them and ask - I got myself in a complete knot a few times with the application and they were really helpful!

OK I am a parent of a student who has to fill out forms etc....

Personally I think you need a degree just to understand and fill all the forms... perhaps they hope you will say 'O sod it' and not bother

Anyway, sometimes we have to submit evidence other times not. Should the info provided not vary from last year then I think they assume everything is 'as was' kwim.

We only had to re submit because I had changed jobs - different employer and different salary.... this year just the filling in of info seems to have been suffice.

Perhaps they also pick a few at random  I guess they can't check everybody's.

Good luck with the form filling etc..... I am sure the actual course will be a doddle after it all ;)
  • Okie cokie,
well last year they said its was all fine, then asked for the P60s and we had to have them photocopied etc.
But this year they havent asked us yet?

Ill wait for the post to come tomorrow morning, and if nothing comes through asking for evidence ill give them a ring and see if ive done it right!
Thanks everyone! just thought id ask first! :D

Something like this happened with me a couple of years ago. It said it was all fine then a month later I got a letter saying they required more inforrmation. Great, I would have given them more information initially if they had bothered to ask for it.

I didn't need to send P60s this year (going into 2nd year) and I have been assessed fine so there doesn't seem to be a problem.

I think they randomly select applications at a later date to provide evidence just to prevent people from cheating the system.
  • Mine is income assessed... sooooooo does that make a difference to you guys who are saying you dont have to hand in p60s?

Are you guys doing it based on income?
