Paying off Student Loan on 0% Credit Card

Well first pay day since paying off my loan and guess what? The student loan company didn't issue a stop notice in time. In fact I phoned them up a week before pay day and they only issued it then <sigh>. Not a major issue just less savings interest. Just photocopied all my pay slips since Jan to prove the payments I've made and my July one to show the payment they owe me a refund for and posted them off. Anyone know how long refunds take and how they might arrive? Cheque I assume...
I will phone my HR department sometime this week to make sure they got the stop notice. At least since my last phone call I've received a letter saying my loan is paid off so hopefully that is the stop notice that will have also gone to my employer.Sept 08 - Mortgage 1 - £66,971 Mortgage 2 - £147,088, Student Loan - £0

Well an update. My student loan payment has finally stopped almost 3 months after paying off my Student Loan. So my experience is this isn't for the faint hearted and as people have said make sure you can afford the time to chase refunds and this doesn't cause a problem with any credit card repayments. Refunds are paid by BACS to a bank account and mine seemed to have interest added for the days the SLC had the money as I got back more than I paid from my salary. If you send claims for repayment by post make sure you follow up with a phone call it seemed that a couple of times they didn't bother to action a letter until I phoned in to check on the status.Sept 08 - Mortgage 1 - £66,971 Mortgage 2 - £147,088, Student Loan - £0

I was due a refund and even though I gave them my new bank details over the phone and in writing, they still paid it into my old account. As I'm on a DMP i'm now not gonna see that cash. Grrr! I hate SLC.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0
