When we signed up, Adelante by default set up a Bank of Ireland Merchant Service. This in turn transfers to our usual business account (quite fast as you say).

As regards the WAP interface, well it works fine on my old Nokia 3200 which is old generation WAP.

I have always found Adelante helpful (yes you do need to chase them and be very specific about what you want to solve).

    1. Check that your phone is on their compatibility list
    2. Call Adelante and ask them to send the correct version of WAP program to the phone. You might need the older version. If it fails to arrive call again.
    3. Ensure Time & Date are correctly set on the phone.
    4. Run a test transaction through. You will immediately know if it is going to work becuase either the program either will start or it won't.

For small transactions you can keep the card swipes and put them thru shortly after. For anything high value you might have to think differently. There is an 0845 number with the Bank of Ireland where you can phone transactions through (I recall a trader at a neigbouring stall using this method) and verify cardholder's address if need be - but it's a slow process.

We find this system most beneficial at venues where there is no cash machine and punters run out of money then see something they fancy.
