nuisance calls from 08453550306

I hope someone can put some light on nuisance calls I am receiving on my home telephone number from: 0845 3 550306
They have been ringing me on my home home everyday for the past 3 weeks, at early hours (4am - 6am) and late at night (5pm - 11pm)
I recently was issued with a new telephone number from Virgin Media due to nuisance calls but now I have started receiving these.
I have done a very quick check on the number and it appears to be "3" Hutchison 3G UK Limited debt collection department;
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08453550306
I dont have any services with them nor have I ever had any services from them, I think it must be for the person who had my telephone number before it was issued to myself.
I am not prepared to contact them and advise them that they have the wrong number, as to cut along story short, I posted it on here a while back, I had this same problem on my old number, this time it was Carphone Warehouse Limited, when I rang them they transfered the debt into my name, so contacting them is something I am not prepared to do at this stage.
I believe that the calls from Hutchison 3G UK Limited could be viewed in light of Harassment Act of 1997 and Malicious Communications Act and that it could be viewed as a criminal offence as per the times that they make the calls.
I am in the process of bringing this matter to the urgent attention of OfCom and I am going to request that they inspect there trading licence to recover and collect a debt.
I dont know if anyone would know but I am considering contacting a solicitor to get a letter sent to Hutchison 3G UK Limited advising them of their conduct; However will I have to pay with regards the issues I have explained or could I make a claim against Hutchison 3G UK Limited for any costs incurred as a direct result of them?!
Please let me have your thoughts inrelation to this matter and if you have had any trouble with Hutchison 3G UK Limited and the number they appear to be using.

Thanks:D

Can't you just block that phone number?

Or email that bloke that runs CPW and ask him what he's going to do about it.

OFCOM have their own-label bottled water, they'll not be too bothered.

Have you not explained to the caller that the person they require does not live at your address. A quick check on their end and with Virgin will be able to tie the phone number to your address and not the debt address.

It seems to me that you are willing to go through a lot of hassle for no reason. A solicitors letter, court action, OFCOM, etc., is a bit overkill. As far as H3G are concerned, they have a landline phone number to go with a postal address. If they are advised that the number is not connected with that address, they will cease to call and remove the number from their system.

    UPDATE:

This afternoon I have contacted OfCom and ICO and a joint investigation has been started as it is clear offences under the Malicious Communications Act have been committed by 3G.
I contacted the telephone number today and was swore at and the person on the end of the phone refused to give me his name or put me through to his manager he then ended the call.
I have also reported it to Virgin Media and they have changed my telephone number as a result of the calls.

    Thanks for all your advice

It seems that the OP does not want to do this, claiming that a debt ended up in his name when he did this once before. I must admit debt collectors proably don't want to believe what they are told on the phone though

I would agree! Far better to write to the company, pointing out their error. They are more likely to act on a letter than a phone call too - and it avoids any confrontation too.

As I have learned with Halifax that is not always the case! I only got a similar problem sorted when I wrote the Chief Executive.

Not the first time you have done that it seems!

Do OFCOM issue licences for debt collection?

They did until ASDA bought the contract.
