British Gas - Are Pathetic
Okay ill try keep this short, but im posting for my sister here. she lives in a rented 2 bedroom house. rented with a private landlord
It started about 3 month ago, the boiler in the house was always breaking down, british gas was our supplier the landlord pays for the gas and electric in the house, but it keeps breaking down the boiler it has for the last 3 month, she rings up british gas and then they send 2 men out to come and fix it, they say to her we'll have to order some more part's but we'll be back within the next 2 days okay ill hand this to them they do come back in the next 2 days, and it works for about 2/3/4 days then breaks down again this has been going on for the last 3 month and hasnt stopped but for the last month the heating, and the hot water has been off completly. she has a 2 year old little daughter in that house and has to walk 2 mile to her mums just to bath her this is surely not right, british gas are messing around here, so she got onto them they came out again and said we'll be back with the parts in 2 days again they didnt bloody turn up did they... so she rang them then 2 days later they came again and then said ordering parts, there special part's so we'll have to ring you when there here, they didnt ring of course we had to ring them they said a part will be sent to my sisters house in the morning we got the part but it was the wrong part, they said they'll ring but nothing for a week she rang them and then were waiting for a call back which has been about 3 days lol so its all upsy daisy at my sisters house. she got in contact with the landlord he is not going with british gas anymore he's getting her a new boiler fixed in on wednesday which is great.
but is there anything she can do here, she had no heating for a month they was clearly messing her around she has a 2 year old daughter which she told them. its been a month without heating and hot water, and it has caused damp around the house because she has just decerated and damp and mould has come through the walls and the babys pram in the house has mould all over it.
any help would be great thanks.

Why did she contact British Gas?
Why didn't she inform the landlord 3 months ago when the boiler originally developed a fault? He's entirely responsible for the boiler.
At least the landlord is now aware of the fault and is carrying out his responsibilities in arranging a new boiler to be fitted as soon as possible
For your own safety, ensure whoever comes to fit the new boiler is corgi registered."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
British Gas homecare were on Watchdog a couple of months ago for this exact problem! Better off elsewhere.
As above poster said, it's the landlord who should be arranging all of this, not you.0 -
So can we sue them or anything?0

Can I ask what make of boiler this is as I had something similar with a gas boiler.0
-
So can we sue them or anything?? Are you for real... If the boiler was faulty and it was a rented house, like the above post says you should have contacted the Landlord, British Gas yes they have room for improvement, but if the boiler is old, and parts are hard to get hold of then it will cause issues. If you want to sue anyone it should be your landlord as he should not have had your sister living in a house that’s unfit for living..
Is it just me or is everyone is this day and age just after making a quick buck??0
