Hi Wol2 ... sorry to hear about the injury.

I am new here but I hope you will not mind if I use this thread to offer you (and others on this forum), a poem, which I think for many here (and I include myself in that number) speaks of something we should not forget ... each day is a new day.

Get well soon, and take care.
    The Sun

    Haveyoueverseen.jpg

    Have you ever seen
    anything
    in your life
    more wonderful

    than the way the sun,
    every evening,
    relaxed and easy,
    floats toward the horizon

and into the clouds or the hills,
    or the rumpled sea,
    and is gone--
    and how it slides again

    out of the blackness,
    every morning,
on the other side of the world,
    like a red flower

streaming upward on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early summer,
    at its perfect imperial distance--
and have you ever felt for anything
    such wild love--
do you think there is anywhere, in any language,
    a word billowing enough
    for the pleasure

    that fills you,
    as the sun
    reaches out,
    as it warms you

    as you stand there,
    empty-handed--
    or have you too
    turned from this world--

    or have you too
    gone crazy
    for power,
    for things?
    ... Mary Oliver

    Hi All

Wol is clocking in for about 30 mins.

Thank you so much for all your support/messages and good wishes.

Numpty..:rotfl: ...hugs Hun...when can you send the elite team over?

Smashed...fur gloves not necessary. ..I will send you his baby pic and you will melt! :p The last pic you saw was the offending other brother that set him off!! (Yeah...Bambi eyes...butter wouldnt melt!!;) )

Spud...great to hear from you thanx. How are you diddling?? You're well I hope ..if maybe a bit quiet...know where you're at...same for me recently. ;)

MF...thanks flower for such a beautiful poem. Bought a tear to my eye. Hope you're well yourself tonight and thanks for your good wishes.:A

BMS and BeanieLou....stalwarts...well what can I say:D Dont get me started on morphine!! ;) Two doses of codeine phosphate and I was away with the fairies for 24 hours:rotfl:  . Had to refuse next dosage or I would still be vegetating on a ward somewhere;)

Pain is surprisingly not a problem. It's the mental issues that might hit in future that concen me. I was a very accomplished pianist (but clearly the guineas didn't appreciate my playing:rotfl: ). I know it will take at least two years to re-establish decent functionality on the piano...and I dont know if I will ever be able to play as well as I used to. But for now...I'm in a bit of denial...and we'll cross that bridge when they take the plaster off wed week to remove the stitches....and then replaster me for another two weeks.

So peeps...all of you..thank you so much. This thread is important to me...and will become increasingly so as "P" day approaches on the 25th...and I learn/realise the true extent of my injury and its ramifications..

Will be on here to type at least once a day but lurking more frequently
However I think tomorrow I will start a "what you can and cant do with only one hand" list for all to contribute to!! (Ref example 1....cheese grater on last night's Night Owl thread!!!:rotfl: )

Big hugs peeps...and onceagain thanx DFW's...you are the salt of the earth!

    Love to all

    |Hi All

Here's the can/cant list to start off!! Feel free to add/suggest/ask/whatever! This is what amputees may have to face...but unlike me ....for lot longer. I am lucky.

Remember I am Right handed, and have no functionallity whatever in that hand/arm. i.e. it is completely unavailable to me at present for any type of manouvre!!

    I CAN:
Wipe my bum (courtesy of moist wipes)
Put most of my clothes on
Cook as long as its not stir fry :p
Open screw top wine:D .l..and drink said bottle;)

    I CAN'T:
Put on eyeliner w/out blinding myself:o
    Chop onions...and any other veg
Grate cheese without embarassing marks (see yesterday Night Owl thread...or was it Daily chat? ;) ~)
    Drive
Put on bra!! (luckily not much to support!)

Will lt you know about the female thingy as and when...suffice to say it will be difficult...but not impossible:D

    Hugs guys

(although am pleased to see she has her priorities sorted with the rabbit)

Wol - sorry about your arm honey, I hope it starts to mend soon. I once lit and cooked a whole BBQ with my main hand out of action as I had sprained my wrist (put your dirty jokes away the lot of you, I was hit by a car)
