You pay £15 to host, but dont forget you have to buy the domain name as well!!!!......and yes I use 34sp, and I did say "about" so add the 2 years for a .co.uk and its £25 add the .com and its £35, so I would say the about £35 was a fair estimate

It's worth remembering that there is more to running a website than simply designing a few pages.

My advice would be to spend some time thinking about why you want a website and what you want it to achieve. If there are other 'stakeholders', make sure that you are all agreed on the goals and objectives for the website. Pretty much everything else will be dependent upon those goals and objectives, so it is important to get them right (and keep them realistic).

Next you need to sit down with a large sheet of paper and decide upon an appropriate structure and layout for your website (it's far better to get this right now, rather than have to change things once a site is up and running).

Now you know what you want your website to do, and have a structure and layout in mind, you can go ahead and design your pages. Make sure to consider such things as accessibility and standards compliance. You will also need to make sure that the website design is optimised for search engine performance. After all, you want to make sure that people will find your website, right?

By this stage you should have identified a suitable hosting company. Again, get this right now, rather than risk the need to move the website to a different host in a few months time. Make sure that your chosen host not only meets your current requirements, but can also meet any future needs (be that increased disk space, more bandwidth, or extra features (for example, PHP, mysql, ecommerce, etc.)).

And now there are a whole load of practical things to address, such as registering a domain, pointing that domain to your hosting account, and uploading your website to your host. Now, finally, you should have a working website.

    Sadly, it rarely ends there!

You will need to address how the website will be maintained and updated, make sure that it has been submitted to all appropriate search engines and directories, establish a routine for making backups (even more important if your website is dynamic), establish another routine for checking that the website is performing as it should (checking error logs, access logs, site stats, etc.), monitor your website's performance in the search engines, maintain a strategy for driving targeted traffic to your website, and so on, and so on ...

As long as you know what's required to run a website, then (as others have already said) just about anybody can do it. Heck, it can even be enjoyable!

    Good luck :)
