Yogurt starter

I've been trawling through the indexed recipes and can't find an answer to this, although I'm sure Squeaky will point me in the right direction
but once you start using a yogurt starter in your yogurt maker, how many times can you use it before you need to buy another pot of yogurt? Does this question make sense??
I'm new to the yogurt making game but we love the results! and so far I've only bought one starter pot, although I've been making yogurt two or three times a week. How do you know when you need to buy a new pot, please?

You can use the starter until it starts to fail, this could be weeks. It's a good idea though to freeze the starter in case you ever lose the chain, holidays for example. You can freeze your own yog stater or the bought one0

Thanks, Squeaky, you're a star :T (I'm ignoring your tagline). Don't know how you found all those, I couldn't see anything about yogging in the index
Looks as though I'm OK until the yogurt doesn't set properly or goes stringy, so I'll keep on yogging.
Thanks again! Ff0 -
Thanks, too A-T, we were posting at the same time. Freezing it sounds feasible too if only I could find room in my freezer :doh:0
