You will not be entitled to WTC due to partners earnings.

Its also more than likely you will only receive basic CTC also.

In the mean time whilst looking for work you should be able to claim JSA

No its not WTC has a threshold at around £15500.

Additionally, the O.P is going to be working 20-25hrs pw

Hmmmm, not sure where you're getting your figures from.

We get WTC and have more than £15500 income :confused:

I think you must be misunderstanding something.

  • The joint household income threshold for WTC is £17392.

helpwithmoney, how much did you and your partner make in 07/08?
How many weeks maternity leave have you taken?
Were you receiving SMP or maternity allowance?
Roughly what date did your maternity start?
How much will you be estimating to earn this year when you are back at work?

If you can get hold of this info I will try to work out your entitlement to CTC. You will not get WTC as your income is too high but you will qualify for CTC of at least £21 p/w until your baby reaches a year old (as long as the household income is less than £50k)

    Apologies i was £1892 out:rolleyes:

Still £17,392 is a stupidly low threshold for 2 salaries.

You are obviously mis understanding something if you believe £20k+ will give you WTC ;) Do i sense overpayments heading your way ;)

(There is a childcare element of WTC though)

As much as I am sure you would love to gloat in your knowledge if they were I must disappoint you and confirm there wont be ;);););)

However, I agree on the 2 salary threshold limit ;);););)

I think when children are involved, the threshold is a lot higher?

Nope, only if you pay childcare costs, you will get a set % of them paid for you. 80% at max dwindling away to 0%

A couple earning £30k with £125pw childcare costs will receive no WTC
A couple earning £30k with £200pw childcare costs will receive a little WTC (Childcare element) Little as in like 40/£50pw from the £200pw costs.

The thresholds are ridiculously low as subsoniccoyote states.
