moving house in 6 months, how can I stop being fleeced on car insurance?

Hi,
my car insurance is coming up for renewal, only trouble is the contract on my job ends at the start of next year. I could be moving anywhere in the country, depending on where I find a suitable job. From previous experience I know that changing address midway through a policy can end up in 'administration charges' and over-the-odds price for the new address ( I was charged £135 for a week in Leeds with Admiral!). I've had a quick look at 6 month policies but they seem pretty rare and expensive. Any advice would be greatly recieved! Thanks

I've changed details mid-way through policies and it's normally about £12-£15. Wouldn't bother with a 6 month policy, works out much cheaper.0 -
The AA have just charged me a £49 "admin fee" for changing vehicle midway through the year. The actual premium was only £9 extra per year tho'.Watch out for the sandbag.0

My advice would be to check out admin fees up front.
Not all companies are as bad.
But at the end of the day you will have to pay as you are causing the admin work.
All you can do is to try and find one that's reasonable.0 -

but this is for a vehicle change so of course it will cost more, especially if the vehicle is of a higher value. An address change shouldn't incur that much of a charge.0 -
An address change shouldn't incur that much of a charge.
If you move from Pimlico to Brixton it will !!
Premiums are based very much on postcode, so there might be an uplift/refund on premium AND then the admin fee.
Of course if you move to a better area then the premium will offset the admin fee.0 -
thanks very much for the advice guys.
If I can find a company that only charges a couple of quid admin fee then that would be great. However, I still have a slight concern about the premium charged for my new address, wherever that may be.
If I was tied to a 12 month contract what's to stop an insurance company charging me over the odds for the remaining months? There wouldn't be much I could do about it.0 -
i have never paid anything to change address (never far and in same risk category)..
Been with Bell, Admiral, The AA, Diamond between myself and the missus... (with exception of AA arent they the same group?)
(diamond robbed us on vehicle change mind you! Premium was £20 quid per year more, but they wanted £50 for 7 months)0
