Hi skintchick, have you spoken to the company that made the shoes for you, they may be able to offer advice, or might offer to sort it out for you if you play the tearful bride to be ;)

  • How about asking a car valeting service?? They seem to be able to remove just about any staining from car upholstery without leaving a mark.

Crikey, sorry but at £400 a pair i would have worn a pair of similar shape and heel height just for a dance lesson

Where do you live? The reason I ask is that I know an absolutely fantastic old-fashioned cobbler in London that might possibly be able to help. They do repairs for companies like Manolo Blahnik etc and are regularly used by celebs too. I've had shoes stretched there and very badly scratched leather shoes mended so that they look virtually brand new. I've never had to take anything scuffed there but they might be able to help? Even if you're not in London, perhaps you could give them a call? They're called Mayfair Cobblers and are located at 4 Whitehorse Street, Mayfair, W1J 7LG, tel 020 7491 3426. The alternative would be to find a proper old-fashioned cobbler near you: not a high street chain but somewhere with an old chap who's been fixing shoes since he was kneehigh to a grasshopper and really knows his stuff! Perhaps if you mention the rough area where you're based someone here might be able to recommend someone?

I am in Henley-on-Thames but am going into London tomorrow to pick up my dress so might give them a call today if the dry cleaner can;t help. Thanks

I did for all the others, but this was supposed to be just a last one to sort out any minor issues with his dancing, and I also needed to break the shoes in.

He just forgot his steps and tried to catch up so he stepped too far forward and wham! it was done.

It's not the end of the world, just I was gutted when it happened. I'm much more calm about it now.

Just an update - the dry cleaner used an air machine of some kind and it all came off the suede! There is still a faint mark on the ribbon but you can hardly see it. It's a miracle machine! v pleased :D
