ok this might be to late but dont touch the shoes until you go to the dry cleaners my mother in law works at one and it makes things worse when its rubbed into the fabric by home remedies you could try ringing the dry cleaners before hand so they could maybe help if possible

I've rung them and they don;t sound hopeful :( But I will not touch them in the meantime! I can always have a go myself afterwards if need be.

Might be worth looking at your contents insurance policy to see if you can get a replacement rather than faff around with attempting to clean them which may or may not work.

They are made to measure and took ten weeks so that's not an option, plus I don;t have accidental damage on my insurance policy.

I am going to try and clean them up a bit, and if people comment on the marks I can just say it is where h2b was trying so hard to make me happy by doing a proper first dance that he accidentally marked them. In a way it is a mark of his love as he really is only doing the dancing for me.

See, I'm trying very hard to be positive about it! :D

  • So sorry to hear about your shoes!!

If you can't find anywhere with the JML sponge, I have the Barratts suede eraser for my nuebuck safety boots (a woman H&S advisor needs something pretty in her wardrobe LOL).

The boots are honey, I do alot of rough work on building sites, so you can imagine the state they can get into, and it hasn't failed me yet. At £4 its worth a try, or even an ask around friends to see if anyone has one?

Best of luck with the shoes and your big day,

    Luv PGxx
  • I used to hire bridalwear, including shoes.

I would suggest you go to an art shop and get hold of a proper pencil rubber. They used to be called India Rubbers. You should be able to rub the marks out.

    Hi again SkintC

Not trying to make light of your situation!

I was going to say that when DD got married within an hour her white satin wedding shoes were stained as she had to walk on grass etc for photos. Not the answer but if you can clean them up for at least leaving the house then throughout the day I expect they are going to get stained anyway!

Hope this doesn't sound negative and I do hope it doesn't spoil your day. We will expect photos of the day of course!

    Love and congratulations.

Those are my thoughts exactly! But I'd still hope to be able to clean them back up a bit again. Sounds like the rubber idea is a winenr. Will have a go after I've seen the dry cleaner.

Apparently the black stuff is a latex-based dye with a wax coating. Does that change anyone's view on what I shoudl be doing?
