Not surprising. People realised it for the con it was.

I'll be sorry to see it go, we use it because we don't drive many miles a year. Pay as you drive cost us £50 less a year for better cover than any other policy we could find.

What makes you think it was a con Conor?

Because there are low mileage policies that weren't as restrictive and were cheaper.

Just out of interest, how much were you paying? I got a qoute for 8000 miles for my 4 year old Mondeo for Fully Comp including commuting for £135.

I had it on 2 cars .. was great

looks like they will honour the rest of the yr without charging the for the miles

We just got a letter today. We have a car that is only used for 3 months in the winter and it was brillaint for us. Does anyone know how they are phasing it out. Will we be able to see out the policy until renewal time (in our case, March 09)?

I imagine they will just close it to new customers and only offer standard renewals rather than pay as you drive renewals.. Does it not explain all that in the letter?

I get my car insurance from Ecar insurance, i think that they have a pay as you go type policy. I remember seeing it when i set up my insurance at the beginning of the year, not sure what prices are like for the pay as you go but the deal i got was best one i found fr me.
  • I am very upset to see it withdrawn. I took this up after seeing it on this site. I basically use my car for work. I make myself walk everywhere or take public transport so this was brilliant for me. Suz
