Hi everyone
Does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable free program that I can run on my sons PC (XP) to monitor his use of Messenger services like MSN? He is 12.

Do you mean log everything he says and sees or control the amount of time he can spend on it??
If you want to control his access to such sites, take a look at K9 Web Protection
If you wish to log his activity, there is a built in conversation logger. Alternatively some keylogging software but there is a huge moral issue with using keyloggers.

Do you save his convos? My two (a little older than your son) have to save theirs--I do a quick check periodically, and they know that if the settings are changed they're banned for a while. When checking I also do a quick scan of the convos.
I also check their bebo (hate the site!!), etc. accounts now and again.Anytime;)0
