Hi
I have been a Orange broadband customer for quite a few years & the last few weeks i have been having a problem.
I use a Linksys router & for the last few weeks i have been having a connection problem. Almost everyday my BB connection light is not lit up on the router & as soon as i ring orange on there 0844 number to check the status etc the light comes on & i can then connect.
I am at a loss as to what is causing this but i have rang Orange up this afternoon to report this but they are a total waste of space with any help.
I have checked this out & everytime i ring Orange the light comes on the router the second i make the telephone connection with orange
Many thanks for any help
Mick

have you tried changing the broadband filters that split the broadband and phone line , remove everything from extensions etc ans swapping out your filters one at a time on the socked where your router connectsEx forum ambassador

Generally if there's any form of interference between broadband and telephone use, it's a problem with either the microfilters at your end or the equivalent equipment at the exchange.
There's not much in the microfilters to go wrong, but they can (allegedly - I've never seen it myself) be damaged by lightning under some circumstances. If you have any spares, may be worth swapping them out.
Otherwise the only plan of action I can think of is to keep on logging fault reports with Orange and eventually they will do a diagnostic test for you.0 -
Hi
Apologies for the delay in replying but i have been out.
I will get a couple of new filters & replace them & see if that helps with the problem.
Just a quick question......how do i log the fault with Orange??,,,,or is it just a case of ringing them when i have the problem??

they can do a diagnostic test from their end , then also log it with BT who can do a special line test that looks for errors on the line etc and give a pass/fail indication for the broadbandEx forum ambassador

You only really need one new filter to try. Just limit the devices connected to the line e.g. modem/router and handset, preferably connected to the master socket with no other extension wiring connected. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

one thing I can suggest - do you have a mobile phone? Call them on that instead of the land line so it doesnt "correct" the fault when you call themDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
