Just think of it like this ...you have just given some spotted lil git his commission money for next weeks friday night out.You also may have a 7 day no quibble policy - like what Argos doYou are absolutely right Niall24.
Just looked at their tv's and lo and behold there is the same blooming thing at £399 with 5 years warranty AND free delivery.
Mine was £479.99 but got 20% discount cos it was off display.
Still theirs is a better deal.
I am now going to fish the bubble wrap out of the bin and wrap the lot up and take it back.
They did offer to beat any other cheaper price I got which I suppose if I kept theirs then it would go towards the cost of the aerial.
(I think I'm a coward and daren't take theirs back - I need to find some courage - has anyone got any to spare)
I'll keep you updated on what happens with this.
Thanks again. If you dont ask you dont get!!0 -
What is a restocking fee? It does begin with a C.
I will check about the no quibble policy.
I will try the things you have suggested jaygrunt.

7 day rule only applies to online sales, not shop buys.
Argos have a 16 day returns policy, not 7 days.
Get your facts correct at least, before giving advice.0 -
how about the sales of goods act, the item has to be fit for purpose and if the purpose was to make the picture better (if thats what you were told) and the picture is not better then you would have a valid claim under sales goods act, also did they tell you why you needed a new scart lead? again if its no better than the one you had and the sales man told you it would serve a particular purpose and it doesnt again you would have a claim under sales of goods act0

That more or less confirms what the Consumers Advice said.
They have suggested I put it in writing to the store manager stating that I was sold products I did not need and that did not improve the reception, clarity of picture etc.
New aerial cost me £97 and the guy who fitted it said I didn't need any of the stuff and that they took advantage.
Have got a lovely picture now and can get all channels.

That's the easy bit.
I am trying to drum up the courage to go back to the shop and ask for a refund.
I've thought about ringing the Manager first and seeing what he says.:oNSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

honey you'll be fine,
I've taken stuff back to curry's Pc world etc lots of times, they'll ask why, just say you can't get the channels like you have to us. IF they try and explain it away, say you don't think it's working properly and since you've had to lug it to and from the store already you just want your money back please.
From your description it's not working properly (although of course to some extent that might be due to your arial) but a refund shouldn't be a problem - ESPECIALLY not for the over priced other rubbish you bought.
Once you've got a refund come back here and tell us what you want from your telly and we'll show you the best one to buy.
Good luck returning it

Nightmare!
Spoke to their customer service who said there shouldn't be a problem and that they would charge 10% for repackaging.
Was put through to store manager who said he would speak to the original manager (different one to the one who was on when I went in Saturday) and the sales assistant (not working today)
He says that if I took it back then I would not get any money back as the total of my purchases had been discounted as I bought them as a package and that I would still be paying the same.
Now putting this in writing to Store Manager.
When he realsied I had opened the product he said they wouldn't accept it anyway as it had been used.
emujuice - have bought an aerial from a local company and tv is working well.
Just stuck with all the c..p that I've bought and don't need.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5
