Hello, Please could someone advise me!
I have been looking for a second hand or refurbished ibook on the internet.
I have a small biz selling my handmade toys so I just need it for storing and editing my product images and updating my website/ answering e-mails etc. I may have to get a router if it is wireless or can you attach two systems to one virgin modem?
I have never had a mac before but am wanting a smoother running system with less problems than we get with our desktop pc.
On ebay some of the ibooks have vastly different sizes of hard drive and memory, I am unsure of how much I need as I will not be down loading music etc or playing games etc. I also need to know if a photo editing programme comes as standard.
I don't have much to spend about £150, I hope that is enough.
I have an old pc at home but my son is using it a lot for his cbeebies games, and my husband for downloading music!
Thank you for reading and any advice would be great.

I'd advise against a g3 as that really is quite old. G4 is OK as long as its mac os 10.4 or above with at least 512mb of ram.
The GIMP is an excellent - free image editing/creating program available for Linux, Mac and Windows.
Does it have to be a laptop? £150 is really pushing it for a reasonable laptop but you can get a desktop for basic internet and the like in your budget.0 -
thanks, I will look at a g4 and increasing budget. I wanted a portable system so I can take it with me when I need to work on my biz away from home in the future.0

Hello again,
I have had a look at g4 ibooks as recommended but they are unfortunatly out of my price range my max is £200. Would an older g3 not be able to do all I need or is it not worth getting an older mac at all?
thanks again0 -
Well a G3 probably won't be capable of running mac os 10.4 and certainly not 10.5. Added to that a G3s battery is unlikely to still be in full working order and battery life of less than an hour kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop.
If you can afford to wait a bit and save some more once you get to the £300 price bracket you can just about afford a new PC laptop (with warranty and decent battery).0 -
30111987 is so right, go for G4 1.25ghz and upgrade as soon as you can to OSX 10.4 It will probably come with a basic version of Adobe Photoshop. Plus Iphoto to sort out your pics. Have a look at https://www.macworld.co.uk for info and tips.0
