I dont know where you live but if you are in the south of england I can recommend a company called "scott james" http://www.sjcl.co.uk/.They did a very professional job on my conservatory from start to finish and if you have any snagging problems afterwards they are very quick to come and remedy them. They are not the cheapest but they do a good job for a fair price

Get at least 6 quotes so you've got a rough idea of price and check with the local council whether or not you'll need planning permission, regardless of whether or not the conservatory firm say you don't.

We were cheeky and knocked on the doors of some of the people who lived near us who have had them done, so we got an idea of who to use locally and also what people thought of them in general.

We were lucky in that the cheapest quote came from the guy who gave us the best advice and pointers (and is probably never going to be a rich man)

Good advice - as a lot of conservatory companies will tell you that no permission is needed - they cannot possibly say that accurately to anyone without delving into the planning history of the property!
