outlet wiring help?.....any electricians about

am in the middle of some home renovations and one of these means i need to move my immersion heater.
got it all moved ok,problem is its moved from one cupboard to another so i need to move the wall outlet that supplies it,upon inspection of the outlet its in a metal box with metal conduit ,the outlet is wired red to live black to neutral and the earth is wired to an earth terminal in the metal box,so i am assuming the actual metal conduit throught the hose is earthed?
i was wanting to move the outlet using a 30amp junction box and 2.5mm twin and earth cable,but when i come to conect the cable in the junction box the new cable(new brown and blue) has an earth in it but as i am no longer going to use the metal conduit i have no earth from the original wire to conect it to,so my plan was to use the earth connection of a nearby wall plug and run some earthwire from there to my new junction box.
does my method sound ok,any replies would be good

Your description is unfortunately not good enough to give a clearcut answer. But 1] If you mean to connect to the nearby earth using a plug, then this is highly dangerous, because if the plug is removed, the earth is disconnected 2] Do you mean that your metal conduit only contains a live core and a neutral core?stephen25uk wrote: »am in the middle of some home renovations and one of these means i need to move my immersion heater.

By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people

yes as far as i can tell it only has black and red wires (live and nuetral)with regards to the earth,what i meant was about 2 years ago we got electric panel heaters fitted throught the house meaning new wiring,when i looked at the outlet for one of these it is earthed i presume back to the cu,so my plan was to run a 2.5mm earth wire from the earth connection in that outlet under the floor to my junction box,meaning that the earth connection at the panel heater would have the earth wire from the cu, going in,and two earth wires coming out one to my juction box and one to the heater panel0

I don't like the proposal. If the earth wire gets damaged, you'll never know - whereas if it's all in the 1 cable, the earth will be last to take damage, and you'll know the cable is damaged. Rewire around the conduit back as far as necessary to the consumer unit. Sorry, but i really think for your own safety that you should call a qualified electrician out as what your suggesting sounds a really bad idea to me.

ok guys took your advice,got my wifes cousin around first thing this morning and we pulled some new twin and earth through the old conduit from the cu to the tank took an age to do but am happy now i know its all safe0
